Been Off Enjoying Summer........

We have been busy with moving, repairs, more moving, Me being sick, having a yard sale, then Mr. P being sick, and more moving. We have also been enjoying the new farmers market in our town park every Saturday morning. Here is a picture of a small portion of our bounty recently.
Green beans for a steal and Amish made raisin bread. YUM!
I actually look forward to jumping out of bed each and every Saturday morning to see what awaits us.

I have been busy unpacking more and more, washing, scrubbing and putting away. I feel for every box I unpack there are 2 more waiting for me. I have no choice other then to keep myself unpacking since I was in a little fender bender a few weeks back. So I am without a car for hopefully no more then another month.

Of course the house is a huge work in progress so pictures will be sparse for the moments until more work is done and walls are painted. I can say besides paint on the walls there is at least one room that is coming together nicely. That would be the ever so small pantry. haha

Before - small oak dresser was in there for linens I believe.

Now -- I use to be a HUGE coupon user so do not be alarmed by the 10 bottles of A1 sauce or 30 cans of chicken broth. I should also mention I still have 3 boxes of food I could not fit in here. So it has been a treasure hunt if we need something.

My old wooden Yeast box hold spice packets. I hope to find more to store items on the shelves.

Old oak drawer found at a barn sale for 10cents!

Old wooden black bench (that Mr. P does not like) holds various old wooden crates.

On the floor a old chippy paint egg basket holds extra boxes of foil and baggies.
Crock bowl holds extra containers of spices.

Tomorrow and Saturday we are having a town wide yard sale. My dad and sister are both bringing down all sorts of things to combine with the few items I will also have for sale.
I hope I can grab a few moments to go scour the sales on Saturday morning on my way to the park for the farmers market.

Working on the Yard

I honestly dread peonies, always have for some reason. I am sure it is because I can not stand any type of bugs and they seem to attract ants of all sorts. Well of course there 4! Yes 4 Peonie plants our yard at the new house. lol
This one is planted beside the garage and has already started to bloom. Strangely enough it does not have a scent at all and is a very dark shade of pink I have never seen before. Much darker then I was able to capture with the camera.

We had a yard crew come in the last week and clean up the back of the yard. It was so over grown with heaven only knows what. They left the berry bushes alone at our request. Sadly the overgrown grape vines had already choked out and killed one tree. (The one the far left side)
I did not get a chance to snap before photos since they showed up a day earlier then expected.
We had been able to avoid the neighbors awful backyard behind us until now. We for see a fence going up sometime in the near future.

None of the fence we able to be seen before.
We also had the area that was previously used as a garden tilled for us.

Sadly I think when the yard crew took out the overgrown weeds and grape vines at the one corner of the lot they also might have torn out the nest belonging to this dove and her babies.
Thankfully the baby shown here with the momma has survived and a second baby has now shown up too.

Work has Begun!

We planted some wave petunias in containers on the stone and int he hanging baskets. I hope with in time they will be over flowing.

Things were taking a VERY slow start with the new house. As we were waiting on a large check to come to help pay repairs and updates from our loan. Well it finally arrived and now work has begun in full force.

Today electrical service is be switched over from 60 amp to 200amp! Yes I said 60! Having 60amp has been very scary with all the old tube and knob wiring. I am so thankful that electrical will all be updated with new wires within the next couple of weeks.

Last week we had all new Pex piping, taking out all the old galvinized pipes. The water before with the old pipes was so bad we could not even drink it.
For the new piping we had to cut a whole in the bathroom wall. We found out our ugly pink tile was not ceramic. Rather it was metal tile with a enamel overlay! Have you ever heard of such a thing? Our great plumber suggested we put in a new shower head at the same time, instead of using a head on a hose as the previous owner had been doing.

Before - with shower head on hose

After New plumbing - need holes and tiles replaced/repaired then shower head installed

We are trying to be thrifty and salvage as much as we can during the repairs. So we are keeping the old tub for now. We would ideally like to find a claw foot tub in the future but this vintage tub will have to do for now. We both loved the cool oval shower curtain holder. So here is my hubby unscrewing it from the wall to save for future use.

My hubby got the idea to why not redo the entire bathroom now since we both hate the pink tile. So off to the paint department we went.

Need Your Help & New Finds

I have been struggling all week to find someone to come out to our middle of no where town to do our lawn mowing for the summer. I think I might have finally found someone to come out. They said they would let me know in a few days a quote. That was happy news to my ears.

We have been digging through cupboards and shelfs. Oh my goodness there is more in this house we bought then we realized! Here are some pictures of items we have found that we are going to be keeping. I hope you don't mind all the photos. :)

Two old farm photos of the ancestors or the previous owners. We are going to go search for them as we know they are right outside of town.

Ok and now I need your help desperately. We are starting on some yard work this week. We have some wonderful flowers in the flower beds and some raspberry bushes in the side lot.
One thing that has us puzzled is something that is in the front flower beds though. Does anyone know what this is? Don't mind the tulip popping it's head out.

Our New House & Maple Syrup Festival

The day finally came! We signed on our new house this past Friday. Now the real work begins with get items updated and repaired before we can move in. We already had a new toilet installed on Friday afternoon in the downstairs bathroom.

Friday was marked the start of the 70th Maple Syrup Festival. We had a first hand view and of the festival all weekend being the first house next to town. We could sit on the front porch and hear all the activities on the main stage and go right next door to the fire barn for some very yummy pancakes for Breakfast.

My mother in law came from PA to visit with us for the weekend and to see the new house. Here is a picture of her and my hubby Aaron.

It was a windy, rainy and cold for most of the weekend. But Thankfully the rain held off until after the parade. Aaron, his mom, my dad and myself all were able to sit on the porch and watch the parade go right past the front of the house.

Our small town has a historical museum in the building where the original school and church were once was. Sadly my camera battery ran out half way through the building. But here are a few photos I snapped.

Sorry for all the pictures, although I hope you enjoyed them all.
