Whatcha Working On Wednesday

This week has been flying by so quickly.

I wish there was more hours in the day to get everything done.

Aaron was asked to bring in his resume to his job to be considered for a promotion.

He currently works part time for a car dealership as a driver. Transporting cars from their various locations throughout the state. It is paying the bills, and we were happy that he found it after 6 months of looking.

They have a very tiny location here locally. Although they just purchased a very LARGE old Ford location that they will be moving to in the coming months. Going from 30 to 100+ cars on the lot, they are going to be hiring a full time employee. The manager asked Aaron if he would be interested. Yes! Of course!

It would be 50+ hours a week with insurance for at least him after a period of time.

We are now praying and waiting to hear something. We can only hope it will happen before Christmas, otherwise things are going to be VERY tight this year.

Alright onto what has been keeping me busy.

I finally took the plunge and started a stitchery. I was lucky enough to find my first hoop, although plastic, half price at a thrift store for .30 whole cents.

I have been busy making some items for my swap partner, I sure hope she enjoys the goodies. I will post a pic once she receives them.

Frugal Friday

This week I was thinking of projects I want to tackle around my house over my Christmas break from college. One area I want to get done is this cutout in the wall between the kitchen and living room. This is my grandparents house, and when we moved in there had been glass shelfs in this cutout in which my grandparents displayed nicknacks on of all sorts.

I am fond of having the opening there, but at the same time glass shelfs really are out of my decor. The glass shelfs were removed on move in day, with nothing to replace them it has just been sitting bare for almost a year. Yikes!

I finally decided distressed wood shelfs would look great there with canning crocks and a Dry Goods sign hanging above on the kitchen side.

Where do I buy cheap, and I mean cheap wood in short pieces like that in a city like mine which is full of over priced national chain hardware stores?

Ahhh my best hidden secret.... the HH Restore Shop.

We have a Habitat for Humanity Restore Shop that is like a hardware thrift store.

You can find anything to your hearts content to redo any area of your house at a fraction of the price.

Today I went and picked these 2 pieces of old slightly weathered wood for $1 each

I have a hand sander on the top of my list for Santa to bring me. Although I do have

a very handy neighbor that loves all things old. So I bake him some cookies I am sure he

will let me borrow his hand sander.

I plan on cutting the length down for them to fit. Sand them down and paint them.

Now I have to scour some stores for more canning crocks.

I also dug this out of a bucket in one of the old sheds outside the Restore shop.

I behaved my self today and did not stop at any thrift stores.

Although I could not resist the huge Rummage Sale sign down the street

at a church. I spent a whole $1 ending up with a whole basket full of goodies.

Whatcha Working On Wednesday

I have been busy finishing up my semester for college. I only have my math still running.

Although for some reason I am have a huge problem being motivated doing my independent study to finish. I would rather be crafting then homework any day.

I have been working on some items for my swap partner in our Christmas swap

over at APJ (A Primitive Journey) Come join us, we are a small but ever growing group

of very wonderful ladies.

I habe been busy baking some gingers and other goodies. Here is a sneak peek.

I have not been able to do much crafting this week due to having to catch up on math homework. But check back next week, I have plenty planned for this weekend. :o)
